Other Cookies: A Baker's Perspective

While searching the very wide Internet for similar blogs, I found many good ones. Some of those blogs are totally concerned with kid education while some have a variety of topics including marriage life and cross-cultural issues. In the following list I introduce five different blogs that, I think, are older sisters of this blog:

1. American Muslim Mom:

American Muslim Mom is a multi-section blog. Its sections include Family, Homeschool-Channel, and Entertainment. It is very active and attractive. Its mission is "to enlighten, educate, and empower American Muslim Moms living in America and abroad, to take action in their lives". This blog sometimes brings some external experts' articles.

InCultureParent is a special blog of its kind. "Centered around culture, tradition and language, we feature articles on parenting around the world and raising multicultural and multilingual (also bicultural and bilingual) children" the author states. This is very beneficial for parents who are used to living in more than one country.

I really like all of these blogs. I will keep visiting them regularly and I may use them as references for some of my future entries.

Now, it is your turn my audience. Do you like them all? What blog do you like best and Why?

It's the first time for me to write an entry in a blog. I feel like I am exploring a totally new world. However, I think it will be a great experience for me and you as well. If you are interested in the Arabic family and society issues, you are in the right place. It's my pleasure to have you all!

This blog is concerned about family matters. I will post topics on different issues. I will try to comment on those issues from my perspective. However, I will do my best to include experts' opinions about those subjects. Your comments are always welcome.

Let's take the issue of "lack" of reading in the Arabic society as an example. According to Al Arabiya News Channel English Website the Arab Thought Foundation's last report revealed that " the average Arab child reads “six minutes” a year in comparison to 12,000 minutes its Western counterpart spends". It also adds "An Arab individual on average reads a quarter of a page a year compared to the 11 books read by an American and seven books by a British person". This issue is of a great importance to the family and the society as well. When exploring this topic, I will focus my power to examine the reasons behind this "scarcity" and try to provide the reader with different view points of some people concerning about this issue. Then, I will search for some solutions that may help the family solve this problem .
